Caseyville Alumni Recovery Connection Meeting: How to Stay Sober and Healthy in a Post-Pandemic Worl

Recovery is a lifelong process that requires continued focus, support and commitment. Our clients benefit from ongoing addiction recovery alumni support, social activities and educational programming to help empower and support recovery, for life.

Caseyville Alumni Recovery Connection Meeting

One of the best ways you can support lasting recovery is to stay involved in the Recovery Community. From addiction recovery alumni meetings and recovery support group gatherings to speaker jams and community events, there are many opportunities to help others who wrestle with substance abuse issues. Supporting others in recovery is a great way to promote your own recovery efforts, as well. Assisting others keeps you grounded and creates opportunities to reconnect with counselors if needed.

Gateway understands that when you leave our treatment center your path to recovery does not end. We have a position dedicated to be a point person for our alumni as they navigate recovery outside of our treatment center walls.

The Linden Oaks Hospital is part of the Edward-Elmhurst healthcare organization, and they provide substance abuse treatments through comprehensive and individually designed programs to Illinois residents. By combining evidence-based therapies with holistic treatments, clients are better able to achieve long-lasting recovery. Along with withdrawal management services and medication management, residential treatment at Linden Oaks may involve individual, group, or family counseling, addiction education, 12-step meetings, acceptance and commitment therapy, CBT, DBT, occupational therapy, and recreational therapy. Some more holistic options may include animal-assisted therapy, poetry therapy, spirituality, or mindfulness. Because they are technically a hospital, clients will have access to medical care, 24-hour supervision, and critical services that can help to make this process as painless and comfortable as possible. Clients will work with a multidisciplinary treatment team that has long-term experience in helping men and women recover from addiction.

Permanent disabilities following central nervous system (CNS) injuries result from the failure of injured axons to regenerate and re-build functional connections. The poor regenerative capacity of mature CNS neurons remains a major problem in neurobiology and an unmet medical need. In contrast, axon regeneration and partial functional recovery can occur in injured peripheral nerves, providing an opportunity to identify the molecular and cellular mechanisms that control axon repair.Research in the Cavalli laboratory focuses on elucidating the principles and mechanisms by which peripheral sensory neurons with cell body in dorsal root ganglia regenerate. The lab focusses on understanding how the epigenetic and transcriptional changes elicited in injured sensory neurons promote axon regeneration. The lab also study how satellite glial cells, which envelop the neuronal soma participate in the repair process. The lab is also interested in understanding how immune cells influence neurons and satellite glial cells responses to injury.A broader understanding of the multi-cellular mechanisms associated with nerve repair may lead to strategies to improve recovery after nervous system injuries. The laboratory use a multifaceted approach in the mouse model system with the goal to manipulate novel pathways the lab discover to improve regeneration in the injured CNS, such as after optic nerve injury or spinal cord injury. The lab also uses human tissue to determine if findings in the mouse model system are relevant to the physiology of human neurons and glia. 2ff7e9595c
